Hi, I’m Julie Greensmith, artist, designer and a passionate craft junky. I work from my garden studio, hidden amongst the roses and bougainvilleas surrounding my home in Norwood, Johannesburg.
I specialize in teaching jewelry making and sculptures using Art Clay Silver® along with other metal clays in copper and bronze. I also offer courses in the complimentary crafts of chainmaille and wire sculpture, crafts which offer options for incorporating jewelry pieces into necklace or bracelet designs.
Early on I began including glass cabochons in some of my jewelry and became fascinated by the creative potential of glass. I have worked hard to develop classes and workshops in fusing and slumping glass as well as techniques to decorate individual pieces.
My studio is fully equipped for students to create beautiful pieces to their own designs or to work with standard designs. My objective is to ensure each student can go home with a finished product or leaves one in a kiln ready to be fired for them to collect later.
I also carry stock of all the materials required for my classes so students only need to join a class and decide whether to take tea or coffee.
